Before we launch into it, you must know that REPREVE is only a fibre, and not the fabric or the finished garment. Fabric manufactures purchase REPREVE yarn from Unifi (the manufacturer of REPREVE) and also weave the fabric. The finished fabric can either be 100 REPREVE or a blended with virgin polyester or other filaments ( for example spandex).
REPREVE polyester fiber can also have wicking, thermal comfort, and other performance technologies bedded in the fiber.

From any point in the supply chain, using their unique FiberPrint® track technology, they can test the fabric to corroborate REPREVE is in there, and in the right quantities. No false claims.
REPREVE ® also has third- party certifications.
A third- party certification provides an independent, objective review of a company’s product claims and environmental performance.
SCS Certification
REPREVE filaments are certified for recycled content claims by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). Every time, SCS performs a full examination of REPREVE’s recycled products, including their recycling processes, product records, and manufacturing operations. SCS is a leading third- party certifier and norms inventor of environmental and sustainability claims.
Oeko-Tex Certification
Because “ sustainable” means different things to different person, REPREVE has also entered the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, a famous transnational eco-label. Oeko-Tex offers “ Confidence in Fabrics,” qualifying that REPREVE’s yarns are tested to be free of dangerous situations of further than 100 defined chemicals. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is the world’s leading marker for fabrics screened for dangerous substances.
GRS Certification
The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is grounded on tracking and tracing of recycled content. It uses a sale certificate- grounded system, analogous to organic certification, to insure the loftiest position of integrity. This helps track recycled content throughout the value chain of certified final products.
Manufacturing Process
PET plastic bottles are reclaimed and collected. The bottles enter a unique material conversion process, where they’re diced, melted, and reformulated to form a recycled chip. The REPREVE chip also enters a proprietary extrusion and texturing process to form REPREVE reclaimed fiber.
